If you (by the very very slim chance that anyone reads this) have noticed the #wtf, #lol and #cute tags I’ve been using on my twitter, then you might’ve been going “what’s with all these tags now?!” Or not… which is much more likely…
Well, I suddenly had an idea when someone at work said they liked my “daily dose” of cute or lol things etc. My TOTW page doesn’t really do anything atm, cos, well… it was just a flakey idea really SO I thought “hmm I’ve got a plugin that posts my tweets, and I know I can filter by # tags!”
BUT
I went one step further, just to melt my brain, I wanted the images I posted to come out too, without needing to follow a URL.
Enter Yahoo Pipes! As suggested by the loverly Andrew Girdwood when I mentioned the idea.
So, it now involves twitter rss feed grabbing, feed filtering by tag, feed stripping in the description of any jibberish before the URL and then turning the URL into the Image tag of w00t!
Then discovered that I tweet too much for the totw page to keep enough images (oops!)
So I now have to use a second yahoo pipe to grab the feed of the first and spit it out as a second feed /*breathes*/
NOW all I need to do is use a re-sizing script so that I can make the images smaller and keep the correct aspect ratio. I’d do this with the same dimensions with all of them except they’re not all the same size… so go* squish*. Have tried using percentages but only shiny up-to-date browsers cope with that properly, ah well.
Lots of fiddling ahead for me and the totw page! I’ll update the links to the new one once I’m happy with it and it’s not so prone to breaking :P
